Have you searched in Google today? Are you amazed to see this day Google Doodle? 22nd April, 2013 is the International Earth Day. So this day Google Search Engine is decorated with colorful Earth Day Doodle.

I think everyone should be amazed to see this International Earth Day Google Doodle. This new Google doodle represents every season with the sun rising and falling and Moon is rising & setting too. This Google Doodle is an animated one. According to Doodle authority, This is 13th Earth Day Google doodle. Every year the Earth Day doodle is getting more colorful.

First Earth Day was celebrated on 22nd April, 1970. About 20 million Americans participated in that rally. The rally took all over the place- streets, parks, auditoriums in order for a healthy, fresh environment all over the country. Colleges and universities also participated in this rally. Their main agenda is for Clean Air, Clean Water & fresh environment.

Now Earth Day is observed among 192 countries with lots of activities. An nonprofit Earth Day Network organize different seminars, rallies to bring awareness worldwide.

On 15^th April Google Doodle is decorated with Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler’s 306^th Birthday. It is an interactive Google doodle. Here in Doodle we see in “O” of Google, a mathematical term is circling.

Leonhard Euler is a famous Swiss mathematician and physicist. He did important works in calculus and graph theory. Euler was thought one of the most important mathematicians of the 18th century and all time greatest mathematician.

Euler was born on 15^th April, 1707 in Basel & died in 18^th  September, 1783.

Euler wrote some famous books include:

• Elements of Algebra

• Introductio in analysin infinitorum

• Two influential textbooks on calculus: Institutiones calculi differentialis and Institutionum calculi integralis

• Lettres à une Princesse d’Allemagne (Letters to a German Princess).

Later a detailed collection of Euler’s works, named by Opera Omnia, has been published since 1911 by the Euler Commission of the Swiss Academy of Sciences.

I don’t think I have to explain what is Google Doodle. Doodle is the special type of logo which added in Google Search to remember any special occasion. On April 2^nd, Google Doodle is decorated with various types of wildlife creatures for example, butterflies, caterpillars, lizard etc to commemorate birthday of naturalist Maria Sibylla Merian.

Maria Sibylla Merian is born in Germany. She was born in April 2, 1647 & died in January 13, 1717.She was called a naturalist and scientific illustrator. Merian is also called a botanic artist. Merian also made research on insects, worked on live specimens, sometime made drawings showing insect metamorphosis (life stages of the insect – egg, larva, pupa, and adult).

At her time, it’s tough to work on insects & other wildlife creatures. Those who work on these are called  ”beasts of the devil.” But she was not afraid of working on species. Her drawings of plants, frogs, snakes, spiders, iguanas, beetles are still collected today by amateurs all over the world & they are good resource for research.

Maria Sibylla Merian wrote a book – Neues Blumenbuch (New book of flowers) appeared in three parts. Another book – Erucarum Ortus Alimentum et Paradoxa Metamorphosis, a brief collection of her work, was published by her daughter after her death.

Miriam Makeba is a South African singer. she is the first Grammy Award winner from South Africa. She is also remembered as a civil rights activist.

Today 4 March 1932 Miriam Makeba’s Birthday. So in order to remember her birthday, Google Doodle added special logo in Google Search.
